Accessing Psychological Support via Your NDIS Plan
Key Points
Rusanow Psychology provides psychological support for plan-managed and self-managed NDIS participants.
Ensure your NDIS plan includes funding under Improved Daily Living or allows use of Core Supports for Psychology.
Appointments are flexible, easy to book online, and don’t require a long-term commitment.
Sessions are conducted via secure video or phone, with the option to include a support person.
Invoicing and payment is managed by your plan manager or directly for self-managed clients.
If you’re a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participant seeking psychological services, the process can feel overwhelming. This guide will walk you through the steps to access support under your NDIS plan with me. Please note that I am not an NDIS-registered provider, so I can only see clients who are plan-managed or self-managed.
1. Reviewing Your NDIS Plan
Ensure your plan includes funding for psychological support, typically under the Capacity Building category for Improved Daily Living (IDL). If your IDL budget is exhausted, your Core Supports budget may also be used, depending on your plan’s flexibility.
For assistance in reviewing your plan or confirming funding availability, consult your Support Coordinator, Plan Manager, or Local Area Coordinator (LAC).
2. Choosing Your Psychologist
Therapy is most effective when you feel comfortable with your psychologist. I offer psychological support tailored to NDIS participants who are plan-managed or self-managed. If you’re unsure whether my services are a good fit, feel free to contact me for more information.
3. Booking Your Appointment
Scheduling an appointment with Rusanow Psychology is straightforward:
Use the online booking system to select a suitable day and time.
After booking, you’ll receive intake forms to complete, ensuring a smooth and personalized experience from your very first session.
Booking a session with Rusanow Psychology is flexible, there is no obligation for ongoing therapy and you can attend as frequently as needed and stop at any time.
4. Attending Your Session
Sessions with Rusanow Psychology are conducted via a secure online video platform or phone call. For video sessions, a link is sent prior the appointment, allowing you to join directly from your browser without needing additional software.
To get the most out of your session:
Find a quiet, private space where you feel at ease.
Approach the session with an open mind and readiness to share your concerns.
NOTE: You are welcome to invite a support worker, friend, or family member to accompany you during your sessions if appropriate.
5. Invoicing and Payment
For Plan Managed NDIS participants, your plan manager is invoiced directly, so you won’t need to worry about invoices or payments (though you may request copies of invoices for your records if you wish). If you're self-managed, invoices will be sent directly to you for payment via your NDIS plan.
6. Ongoing Support
Following your initial appointment with Rusanow Psychology, you may continue with sessions at a pace and frequency that best meets your preferences, situation, and goals.
